Dear Colleagues,
I am deeply honoured to invite you, on behalf of the European Federation
of Internal Medicine and of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Medicina
Interna (Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine), to play an important
role as a participant to the 6th Congress of EFIM, which will be
held in Lisbon, from 23 to 26 of May 2007.
This Congress will be much more than a privileged forum to discuss
and to learn. It has been designed to be a meeting point for different
cultures and different scientific approaches, that underline the
richness and diversity of European Internal Medicine, emphasized
by the presence of Internists and Doctors from other continents,
gathering the scientific societies of 30 countries that represent,
as a whole, about 40 000 Internists.
The programme, broad and ambitious, meets present and future challenges
of Internal Medicine which are in a constant change due to the new
reality of an enlarged Europe. The quality of the speakers and papers
presented will surely be a good work basis to all participants,
always bearing in mind their professional improvement towards the
goal of a more effective and ever more humanized medical practice.
The meeting will take place at the Centro de Congressos de Lisboa
(Lisbon Congress Centre), the former FIL - Feira Internacional de
Lisboa, near the Tagus river and the Ponte 25 de Abril (bridge over
the Tagus). You will feel this city’s hospitality from the
moment you arrive. Let our unparalleled bright and warm sunlight
be your guide in the large avenues and squares, or in the narrow
alleys of Alfama and Bairro Alto. You’ll discover that, no

Beyond the official programme, the organisation will provide many

In the end, after leaving, you will discover the meaning of the
